Meme

The term meme is short for mimeme, a word derived from Ancient Greek meaning "to imitate." A British evolutionary biologist coined the term to describe a concept explaining the spread of ideas and cultural phenomena. An Internet meme is a concept that spreads from person to person via the Internet through email, blogs, forums, imageboards like 4chan and Reddit, social media sites like Twitter, and video hosting sites like YouTube.
