The small intestine
The small intestine is a complex part of human digestion. In order, scientists have identified the 3 sections of the small intestine as: the duodenum, the jejunum, and the ileum. Peristaltic muscle movements involuntarily move foods through the intestines while the villi, which cover the inside of the small intestine, absorb the food's nutrients. Once the food's trip is complete, it passes into the large intestine to complete the digestion process.
