Sculpture

When painters paint, they typically paint on a flat surface, which means they work in two dimensions (the length and width of the canvas). Sculptors, on the other hand, work in three dimensions, which means their pieces of art have length, width, and depth. Traditionally, sculptors used two methods modeling (building an object with a material) or carving (removing material from a large block) to create their pieces of art. However, in recent history, sculptors have used a variety of new methods to create sculptures. For example, modernist sculptors have been known to employ welding or plastic molds to create intricate works of art.
