Desert Animals
Many animal and plant species have adapted to living in harsh desert environments. Coping with minimal water supplies can be challenging, but the animals and plants native to these environments have developed unique ways of adapting. Some antelope species, such as the gerenuk and oryx, do not need to drink water, but survive from the water in the plants that they eat. The root systems of cacti are often shallow and complex, efficiently catching and storing water during periods of rain.
