Rock Dwelling Vs. Burrows
Pikas are small mammals which look similar to mice (but do not have a tail) though they are most closely related to the rabbits and hares. Native to the mountains in western North American and much of Central Asia, pikas live in one of two distinct homes: burrows they construct or broken piles of rocks in the mountains. Scientists believe the rock dwellers live approximately 6-7 years, and only reproduce once a year, while pikas who live in burrows may live for about a year and reproduce multiple times a year.
