J.K. Rowling is probably one of the most widely known children's authors of all time along with Dr. Seuss. Rowling was inspired with the idea for Harry Potter while waiting for a delayed train from Manchester to London in 1990. The next 17 years of writing, publication, and movie productions would earn Rowling an estimated $798 million dollars. Joanne Rowling chose to author Harry Potter as J.K. Rowling in order to appeal to boys. The Harry Potter Series has sold 450 million copies and is the best-selling book series in history.
