Yvette's Swimming Challenge

Even before Yvette's diagnosis of a visual impairment, she was on her school's swim team. She has a visual condition that usually affects teenagers, and it typically causes very low vision and blindness. Initially, Yvette was concerned that she could never swim again, but she began practicing with the swim team at the school for the blind during the summer. The coach taught her coping strategies to keep her safe in the water, and now Yvette is back to the top of her swim team. Yvette now practices with two swim teams.
